    Service Light at 110 Miles

Im new to riding and picked up my Trident 3 weeks ago. While I was riding this weekend I noticed that my service light was on. My service screen shows service due on 01/2001 or 490 miles. I was in the computer changing normal time and date prior to my ride. Would this cause an issue with the service clock? I wouldnt think so from my experience fixing my own cars. I called the dealership and explained this to them and they said that nothing should be wrong or needs service and that they will clear it during my first service. Has anyone had this issue before? Any help would be much appreciated.

The only thing I can think about is that the computer detected something wrong or some kind of error that needs assistance from a dealership. If the time and date is crazy I'm guessing an electrical issue.

I guess they would need to diagnose the bike.

Wouldn't worry. I'm no Triumph mechanic or dealer so can't know for sure, but if time is as manual is the milage until next service, it's surely a typo from initial setup.

Twice, they've missed the correct service interval input on my bike. First time at 1000km they set it to something weird as +9459km or so, next time it was set to +10000km over actual km driven at the time, not 16000km. First time they fixed it in minutes. I mentioned it the second time and they said they could fix it if I came back but I haven't bothered. Will if I do another 10000km before 2nd year service.

But obviously, the interval milage is manual input from mechanic. So I'd be pretty sure the date is the same.

Edit: Though do keep in mind the first service is 1000km, the second is 1 year or 16000km later, whichever comes first.

No worries with it. I had the same date setup on my bike and was informed by the dealer that I shouldn't look on the date but on the Km interval. I guess they didin't bother themselfs to setup valid date for the first service.

After first service they setup valid date which is September 2023. The only thing I asked them was to setup Km interval for 10 000 not 16 000 like manufacturer advices. I do not trust those extended oil change intervals. I want my machine to have fresh oil every 10k km or once a year at least. The same with car.

Thank you all for offering up some advice. I'll continue to ride and have them fix it at the first service.
