    Engine Oil Capacity

What's the right amount for replacing the engine oil with filter change?

The manual doesn't state the exact amount, only mentioning to use 10w40 or 10w50 weight oil.

Searches on the forum here have ranged from anywhere between 2.8L to 3.3L with filter change.

I just finished my 600 miles service and the dealer charged me for 3.8L of EO.

I've done the dipstick checking (upright) and it's bang on right at the top end of the marking.

Does anyone have the manual that states exactly how much engine oil to fill?

    Motor oil filling quantities:

    Dry filling 3.20 liters
    Oil/filter change 2.80 liters
    Only oil change 2.60 liters

I've just taken out 3.4 ltrs allowing the sump and filter outlets to drain overnight while on a rear paddock stand.  I've had to put 3.4ltrs back in to get the oil level to the minimum dipstick mark having warmed the engine back up with the bike upright and on its wheels.

I'm going to ride it around the block and top it up as required.  It seems though that the 3.2ltr dry fill capacity is questionable and I wouldn't be surprised if I end up using 3.5+ ltrs of engine oil.

Oil level is up to the correct level mark now I've ridden the bike.  So 3.4 ltrs it is then.

Just out of interest, I note that the 765 engine takes 3.48ltrs for a dry fill.

yeah, which is why I am confused why the service manual calls for 2.9L.

My own Triumph Authorised Workshop filled 3.9L for me, and checks with a few owners visiting the same outlet ranges from 3.2L to 3.5L.
