who has fitted a hugger extension ? if so has it kept the crap off the schocker?

I got the pyramid extensions for both front and rear fenders.


The rear keeps the crap away from the shock, but I still get mud thrown over the pillion seat.
Front extender keeps most of road muck away from the radiator.

Yes, both are Pyramid.
I fitted them with the sticky bits, without the rivets (I didn't want to drill through).

I fitted one too, rear and on the front.  I've put a neoprene Shocktube over the rear shock too.  From R&G, but it is a bit tight and very tricky to fit as the shock disapears up out of reach so there is no way I could fit the cable ties.  I pulled the metal eyelets out too as previous shocktubes eyelets have rubbed the spring paint.

But I have the tail tidy which does an excellent job of spraying muck up your back.  The Pyramid extension does something and the neoprene keeps the worst off the shock.  Probably needs periodic checking that the shock is still okay underneath it.

I considered wrapping the neoprene around the shock, but I suspect it will do more long term damage to the shock and spring by trapping the moisture inside the sock.

How do you remove the rear fenda? I can only see one Allen key fixing on the right hand side

I didn't.
I cleaned the existing fender in situ (properly - including good de-greasing with IPA), and then placed carefully the extension exactly under the correct spot and pressed in (dry-fitted twice beforehand to be absolutely sure it fits). I've been using only sticky pads supplied (didn't want to drill the fenders) and it's been absolutely solid ever since.

Thanks Erik, I feel I should fit a couple of rivets in to rather than rely on the sticky pads.
How long has yours been on now?

I had them fitted in late June, so about 3.5 months and 3000 kilometres in all kinds of Irish weather.
They are still as solid as it gets. The sticky pads are 3M VHB tape. It's the same stuff that holds the trims on the cars.

In the Bonneville I had front fender extender for 10 years just on the sticky pads.

But use the rivets if you want belt and braces solution by all means. I just didn't like the look.
